More Pocket Page Scrapbooking

The Pocket Page Scrapbooking & More class is just two weeks away! Have you signed up yet? We're going to have a great time putting together pocket page layouts and using pocket cards for other creative projects. (Click HERE for all the class details and samples of the projects we'll be completing.)

The Project Life Strawberry Edition core kit contains over 600 cards that can be used on a variety of layouts. I used three cards (plus pink letter stickers from my stash) to create the 12x12 pocket page below.

I used pocket cards from that same core kit to scrap photos from the Fourth of July. For this layout, I layered some of the cards and included additional embellishments (stickers, punched shapes, washi tape) on them as well.

Be sure to check out all the Pocket Page Scrapbooking & More class information HERE and call the store to reserve your spot today!

Pocket Page Scrapbooking & More
Friday, June 5 1 pm
Saturday, June 6 10:30 am

Pocket page scrapbooking is a quick and easy way to scrapbook.  In this class, we’ll use Project Life pocket pages, cards from the Project Life Strawberry Edition, and a variety of embellishments to create four projects. I will share tips for using pocket pages to document everything from your everyday life to a special event to a recent vacation. I’ll also share how I incorporates pocket pages in with my traditional 12x12 scrapbook pages, along with a variety of examples of other ways to re-purpose these cards.

This class is perfect for:
*anyone new to pocket page scrapbooking (or scrapbooking in general) who wants to learn a quick & easy method of preserving memories
*experienced pocket page scrapbookers looking for new tips and ideas for pocket-based memory keeping and ways to incorporate 12x12 layouts with pocket pages
*paper and digital scrapbookers who want to include pocket pages in their albums
*anyone with a stash of pocket cards waiting to be used on creative projects
*cardmakers and paper crafters looking for a fun new supply to add to their paper stash for creating a variety of projects
In this class, you’ll create:

1. A two-page pocket page spread: Bring to class 8-14 photos to create a two-page pocket page layout. You can use the front & back of one page protector, or choose two different page protectors for a side-by-side layout like my example below.

2. A 12x12 layout: Bring to class 1-5 photos to create a traditional 12x12 layout with a white cardstock background. Here's my example using two photos.

3. A greeting card and 4. A gift tag: Pocket cards can be used in a variety of ways. In class, we'll create a greeting card and a gift tag. I'll share other examples and ideas for using these cards as well.

Bring to class:
*8-14 Photos to complete a two-page pocket page.
*1-5 Photos to complete a 12x12 layout.
(Choose photos that you want to scrapbook - photos depicting a day in your life, a week in your family’s life, a birthday party, a recent vacation, snapshots of your house or garden or family members, etc. Your photos can be all 4x6 or a variety of sizes!)
*Basic tool kit (scissors/paper cutter, adhesive, pens)
*Optional – chalking ink, corner rounder

[Completed pocket pages, layouts, cards & gifts tags will vary from samples shown.]

Best Creation Glitter Papers

I almost always have cooking/baking/grilling photos to scrap, so I was thrilled to work with Best Creation's Glitter Paper Collections on a couple of layouts.

I started with these two papers from the Mom's Kitchen collection.

I chose the paper on the left as my background, which I mounted onto pink cardstock. I then fussy cut the hanging items from the second paper and added that to my background. I also used the back side of that paper (with the stripes) as my photo mat. To add more dimension and reinforce the baking theme of this layout, I added Little B Cooking dimensional stickers. (I didn't add any journaling to  my layout, however the light background makes it easy to simply add a block of journaling underneath the photo!)

The sticker letters I chose for the word "ICING" in my title were difficult to see because they were close to the color of the background paper. To help them pop off the page, I simply traced around them with a pen!

For my next layout, I started with two papers from Best Creation's Barbeque Glitter Paper Collection.

I wanted to use the paper on the left as my background, but I also wanted to use that glittery grill as a focal embellishment. I cut the center out of the paper, then filled in that empty space with the other paper. (If you've never cut the middle out of a paper before, I have a tutorial on my blog HERE. The measurements would need to be adjusted depending on the width of the desired border.)

Next I double matted a grid design for my photos, title, and the grill embellishment.

Here's a closer look at the grill - see how FUN and glittery these papers are!

Do you have cooking/baking/grilling photos to scrap? Stop by and check out the cooking section at the store to find the perfect papers and embellishments for your photos!
